The purpose of this study was to examine how some social workers in Sweden describe the social work with Unaccompanied children. Emphasis was on the role of culture in social work with the Unaccompanied children. I wanted to examine how the social workers describe their view on social work with unaccompanied. I also wanted to examine how the social workers describe their view at their own and the Unaccompanied children?s cultural backgrounds influence on the social work with the unaccompanied.

Unaccompanied children that arrives in Sweden are usually placed in homes for care and residence, called HVB. It is the municipality's responsibility to provide adequate care and protection for the children. The aim of the study is to examine how a workgroup on a HVB home for Unaccompanied children is working to meet the needs of the children, and how the workgroup improves the children?s integration process. The study also aims to examine the emotional labour of the workgroup, which illustrates how they can manage their own emotional behavior when working with the Unaccompanied children.The study is based on a qualitative approach with detailed descriptions of five semi-structured interviews with the workgroup and assistant managers.

Socialsekreterarens betydelse för ensamkommande flyktingbarns integrationsprocess

The aim of this study was to develop knowledge about the social workers' importance for Unaccompanied children's integration in the Swedish society. In order to investigate this we also have to distinguish other people who are important for the Unaccompanied children. The method used in the study is qualitative interviews and we have interviewed four Unaccompanied children and three social workers to reach the results. To analyze the results we have used symbolic interactionism and Antonovsky's theory about sence of coherence. The results showed that it is important for Unaccompanied children to have access to significant people to integrate and they also have to learn values and attitudes which exist in the society.

The purpose of our research is to explore the investigation process of the cases of Unaccompanied children by the social authorities. We present both national and international legal documents which are of importance to subject we have chosen. We also aim to study how these are put into practice by social authorities. This can help us to identify the problems and shortcomings in social authorities` practices in dealing with Unaccompanied children?s cases.

Ensamkommande flyktingbarn i media : - en diskursanalys

This research intends to study the media's representation of unaccompanied refugee children on the basis that the media has a power in the construction of society. The focus is on whether children's vulnerability and needs are presented in the media and whether the children?s voices are heard. It is also of interest to study the agents that speak in the media concerning unaccompanied refugee children. The study is based on a theory that social reality is a construction of interaction between individuals and groups. Furthermore the study also incorporate the idea that the media, through its control of language, has power to create discourses which may affect the way different groups in society are looked upon.

This study discloses Swedish human service organizations and their methods of integrating Unaccompanied children into the Swedish society. The purpose of the study is to investigate how social workers at HVB-homes for Unaccompanied children depict their experience in and knowledge of how the Unaccompanied children are integrated into Swedish society. The method of investigating the questions raised by the purpose of this thesis has been qualitative analysis of answers derived from interviewing personnel at HVB-homes for Unaccompanied children. In doing so we have made use of a semi-structured method of interviewing the above-mentioned personnel. The data derived from these interviews has thereafter been analysed and filtered through the concept of integration and the theoretical formations human service organizations and street-level bureaucrats.

This study is about a guardian ad litem mission, role and relation to Unaccompanied children. On the basis of qualitative interviews the study aims to understand the trustees? role and relation to Unaccompanied children. We chose to interview nine trustees to achieve a better insight of the trustees roll. In 2006 there was a change in LMA (1994:37) that clarified the division of responsibility be-tween the Migration Board and the municipalities, concerning Unaccompanied children. The social services should now be utmost responsible for the housing and care of these children, to assure that they gain the same standards and rights as all other children. The aim of this essay has been to examine how the division of responsibility has influenced the work of the social services and how they interpret their responsibility for the Unaccompanied children. How do the social services investigate and make decisions concerning these children? Do these chil-dren have the same rights as other children? To answer these questions a legal study was made, followed by qualitative research interviews with four social services that receive unac-companied children.

Identity and immigration                                                                                                            - A qualitative study with unaccompanied refugee children Jennie Hamberg Larsson and Matthew McNeillThe main purpose of this study is to illuminate and describe how unaccompanied refugee children experience changes and reconstructions to their identity after immigration to Sweden. Using qualitative interviews this study looks at how social relationships in Sweden and a foreign background influence the reconstruction of unaccompanied refugee children´s identity. The base for our analysis is identity theory while roll concepts, social identity theory and concepts of ethnic and national identity are used to give deeper insight into the experiences of three unaccompanied refugee children. Important results found included a connection between the way that identity is formed in relationships, especially with significant others, in the country of origin and how reconstruction of identity develops in the new country with new social relationships. Furthermore the results showed how this reconstruction of identity can be linked to different acculturation strategies that incorporate the importance of an ethnic identity and a national identity.Keywords: identity, ethnic identity, Unaccompanied children, immigration.

The purpose of this paper is to examine motivation in studies and/or work among unaccompanied adolescents who received asylum in Sweden. We have examined how six unaccompanied refugee boys? ages 15-18 years describe their motivation, regarding both current studies and their potential future studies or work. We have attempted to capture the children?s stories about what the factors are that increase or decrease their motivation through qualitative research interviews.

Mellan två världar : Möjligheter och hinder med att integrera ensamkommande barn

The purpose of this study is to see what obstacles and opportunities the staff on a residence for Unaccompanied children experience when trying to integrate these children into the Swedish society. I was also interested in how the integration of these children worked. I have interviewed the staff with a qualitative method. The result was analyzed with the help of Diaz integration theory and Bauman´s theory "us and them", and also with the previous research in the subject. My conclusion is that integration is a complicated concept that is experienced and interpreted individually. There are both obstacles and opportunities in the work with the integration of Unaccompanied children. The result shows me that the schools? role and the legal guardians function should have been better planned and framed from the start.

Many children and adolescents up to the age eighteen come from other countries alone to Sweden to seek asylum. Sweden receives many Unaccompanied children and the number of Unaccompanied children is increasing every year. There are various reasons to why the Unaccompanied children flee their homeland to come to Sweden. Many of the Unaccompanied children come from countries such as Somalia, Afghanistan and Eritrea. The Unaccompanied children?s families choose to send their children to Sweden to protect them from armed conflict and other social or political unrest going on in their homeland. This essay aims to explore how the integration of the newly arrived Unaccompanied children works in schools.
